Atm it is developing in what we are putting in it as I knew would happen, and it is a base idea that could change even if I would prefer it not to. But anyway, the game is you in third person as it would allow you to see the change you make to the armour and weapon you can (probably) change as you go through the game, but again more on that later.
The game its self is a monster hunter/ god eaters burst style game, or in other words you run around pre made small areas and hunt monsters or as god eaters says, gods, but yeah. I have played both of these games and own both if you want a look at them and get the feel of them, otherwise there will be things to look it up on. I always liked these games, and I find they do sell but mostly in japan where a good 4 million get sold on release day, but as they aren’t that known over here they don’t sell as much.
The way I want world hunters is that you take these style games but do what farcry did, make it a massive area with everything thing running about, granted it does bring up a lot of problems, one of which simonas said in class earlier by asking so you wander around a giant area hunting monster you may take a while to find, with no other people barring the other hunters, what else is there to do? (or at least I think he said that or something similar) but he did say there’s something missing, that however I don’t know what. But yes that unto its self is a problem, but it also gives a sense of realism to the game, and unless it was a specific monster such as the rathalos on monster hunter there would be several of everything running around, with quest pointers to the nearest for your current hunting quest (which you get from your ship).
One of the other problems is if we do have a large area to roam, and multiple creatures roaming as well then it probably impact on the frame rate, thus us needing low-ish poly models with decant low memory textures to allow for it all. But we shall see.
The quest obtaining could be done by ship or space station, such as from the space station you activate a few quests, go to a planet hunt them all and deposit there bits in your ship which also allows you to then do stuff with them, such as make weapons and armour, potions extra but potions and such could be done with getting herbs from foraging.
The space station could be also used to spend money you earn from getting quests completed and/ or selling monster bits, with then would allow you to get better weapons or amour from them but hey would be space style, whereas what you make from monsters would be monster style, the difference for armour would initially be the look of them, but then also certain boosts to certain things, such as space style armour may give you boosts against monsters but monster armour may give you added boosts to the other hunters or vice versa. Weapons however will have to be set up to balance them, so it may guns are good against hunters or people but not as effective to monsters and the weapons you make from monster are good against all, as if you bought a good and in a clip of ammo it killed the biggest enemy you could fight, it would but unbalanced for the game, but if you used a sword it would cause good damage to all but it forces you to get closer and brawl it out.
In terms of maps, I wouldn’t know, and we would need to look into how that would be done.
In game you are to mainly use one weapon and have an inventory system but to us your ship as a sort of bank, but at the same time I would like a us of a secondary weapon but for this to happen it takes you your inventory space to be able to hold the weapons s well as your first one.
I could go on for more but il ive you this for now, ask me if you have questions.
----Simonas’ Feedback-------------------------
How about having a shaded in map when you start out, and you can have either gadgets from the ship or trained monsters to help you explore, find more enemies and help in battle.?
(like in starcraft, where you can send out troops to uncover parts of the map and scout.)
If the gadget is destroyed, you can retrieve it and use scavenged parts to fix it and upgrade it.
If your trained monster/ally gets hurt, you may help them out on the field real time from your scavenged items and potions. If your ally gets killed, you will have to re capture a suitable animal and train them up to be your monster ally. (This could take part in a series of mini games).
When you get enough xp you'll be able to kidnap hostages and enemies. Through a series of mini games or tasks you can make them your ally as well.
Point of the game? Conquer the milky way from Pluto to the sun. Once you extinguish the sun you become a true world hunter....
Maybe we can incorporate something like that in there to build it up a bit?
